Creativity in the Digital Age:
fine arts and digital media
lectures by Jim DeCesare
In response to the rapid rise of technology, I have recently stepped outside the comforts of my paint-stained studio to seek new ways of helping students bridge the gap between studio art practices and the exponential use of digital-media…seeking opportunities for visual art students to better tell their unique stories, and to help inform the public of the value of the arts and creativity.
I have spoken at numerous Technology Conferences for higher education faculty and staff, including Engaging the Twenty-First Century Learner at Middlesex Community College, and Old School vs. Digital...Nothing but Choices at Tunxis Community College in Connecticut. I show how art students are successfully using digital platforms to cultivate creativity, to tell their unique stories, to find purpose, to discover gifting, to build empathy…so that their “digital exhaust” is creating a positive and responsible web presence.
